A Camp with Kingdom Impact -Thomas Road Outpost

(Picture taken from the camp)

This October we were blessed with a tour of the Thomas Road Outpost Camp. This was very excited because we live in Northern Michigan and the Camp is in Lynchburg, VA and we have been giving to this project.

Before I tell you about the camp, I want to share about my camping experience. I don’t remember how old I was, but I was old enough that it made an impact on my life. But this impact was not a Kingdom impact. I was so excited to be going on this camping trip with my friends. I had some really close friends that we did everything together and this was going to be the best time, so I thought. We were going to go canoe on the Au Sable River in Michigan.

To keep this story short I will just hit the highlights. I had a leader who didn’t look out for us, instead he brought drugs to give us. Not really understanding the impact this was going to have on me, wanting to be a part of the gang, I participated. Little did I know he also had other intentions. This was horrifying and even as I write this I can’t even think of the details, even though I have been set free from my past, I have no use in giving those events another look except to use it as a stepping stone to tell you that experience was no “Kingdom Impact”. There are many children who need to be rescued from the chance of having that same experience.

That is one reason I am passionate about this camp. My husband is the other. He had a vision many years ago about a place like Thomas Road Outpost Camp. One that would give so many a great outdoor experience and reach them for the Gospel. When we visited the camp in October we took a four wheeler to the top of the mountain. Along the way we saw the cabins that are being built, the zip line area, the place they will be having outdoor survival activities, and so much more.

Thomas Road Baptist Church has been involved in camping programs for over fifty years. In March 2014 they were given 500-acre parcel of land in the midst of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s Peaks of Otter Region. It was donated to be repurposed as a youth camp with the emphasis of reaching at-rist youth from Virginia and the surrounding areas.  They also will be having Marriage seminars and other events.

Their focus is to reach thousand of children each year through Christ-centered camping experience in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. This is a place that children can leave the pressures and distractions of modern life behind and just be kids. They will experience camp life, have fun, but will be given hope and love. TRO encourages campers toward a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Each year they receive thousands of requests from the area but are unable to house them due to the limited space. They have the potential to reach so many with The Gospel of Jesus, bringing hope and healing to them. So that is why I am writing this post. I am reaching out to whoever reads this to please consider giving to this worth while project. Help TRO make that “Kingdom Impact” to as many as possible. You can help change a life.

Ebels General Store – LIVE GOD LOUD

Beginning in 1920, the Ebels family has been operating their store in beautiful downtown Falmouth, Michigan. Chris Ebels originally started the business delivering foods and other essentials door to door in a horse drawn wagon. Since the original store, there have been 5 major renovations to make room for more retail space and to start new business ventures.

A Proud Tradition

Successive generations have operated Ebels General Store for 5 generations. Chris Ebels began the endeavor in 1920. He started by delivering goods with a horse drawn cart around the Falmouth area. In 1927 Chris moved his store building to the store’s current location with a full basement under the main floor. Chris added groceries to the hardware and implement lines during the depression. After Chris died, his son John took over the store and joined the Spartan Food Company in 1939. John’s son Harold worked for his father for many years, and in 1960 he purchased a half interest in the store. Harold became complete owner in 1965. In the fall of 1971, Harold completed an addition of the store that doubled its size. Harold also did another addition in 1978 that doubled the size of the store once again.

In the early 1980’s several national retailers moved into the area, and with them came more competition at the grocery retail level for local stores. This led Mark & Dawn to begin to diversify their services. They started to offer butchering and meat processing services. This led to processing deer and making smoked meats for customers. Mark’s smoked meats became well known around the area, and eventually demand for them led Mark & Dawn to start Little Town Jerky in 1994.

Mark & Dawn also started a catering business in the late 1980’s to further diversify their business. Many busy years of catering led to the official formation of Dawn Fresh Catering, Inc. in 2001, and the construction of a new kitchen that was completed in 2003.

In 2002, Mark’s processing had grown to the point where it needed a major expansion to maintain operations. A new butchering facility was constructed and completed in 2004. The new facility is approved and inspected daily by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Ebels General Store also is well known for their retail meat selection. The Ebels family strives to offer great quality meats at very competitive prices. On a busy Saturday there are often 10-15 people at the service meat counter to purchase their meats. Ebels Meat Department works to provide excellent customer service – be it slicing a slab of bacon from sister company Little Town Jerky, or cutting a whole New York strip loin. Besides a great meat department, the store also offers a full line of groceries, produce, frozen foods, and dairy; provided by Nash Finch Company since 2012. Nash Finch, a grocery supplier since 1904, provides Ebels with the quality private label, Our Family Brand.

Ebels also has a specialty clothing and gift department offering Men’s, Women’s, and Children’s clothing including outerwear and boots. Customers can look forward to shopping brands like Woolrich, Carhartt, Keren Hart, Stormy Kromer and Bogs footwear, to name a few.

Today, Mark & Dawn enjoy working alongside three of their children and their spouses. Mark and Dawn would like to thank the great team of associates they have been blessed with in all areas of the businesses. Many have been with the company for multiple years and through all the transitions along the way.

The Ebels family would like to thank all of their loyal customers. The Ebels Companies are dedicated to serving our Lord Jesus Christ first and foremost. We are dedicated to providing quality, value and consistency in the foods we make, products we sell and services we provide. We look forward to serving you in the future. (taken from their website)

I like that they understand the importance of community involvement. They give food and volunteer in the community as needed & they are not afraid to say they are dedicated to The Lord Jesus Christ & His Work….

At the Big Ticket Festival 2015 Ebels General Store was a big hit. The lines were long to get this great food.

Confessions of a Ninja Mom: Author Anna M. Aquino

We here at Penniless Promoters understand the day and age we are in. We understand the struggles that Mothers face. We want to share this 40 day training manual with our readers. The Author has two children. She knows where her power, wisdom, & strength comes from. Below is a few words from the book & Author… Enjoy….check out the link below to order this new book…

I am a Ninja Mom.
When it’s 3am, and I have vomit in my hair. I want to sob, but I hear the baby crying.
I am a Ninja Mom.
When I am in a meeting and I realize the only writing instrument I have in my possession is a purple crayon.
I am a Ninja Mom.
When I finally get that important phone call and find myself running away from one of my kids throwing a fit about string cheese,
I am a Ninja Mom.
When I head out to a critical meeting and look down to see that she’s peed on me,
I am a Ninja Mom.
When I look into the dryer and find Cheerio’s, Barbie Shoes, and mismatched ill-fitting socks,
I am a Ninja Mom.
God gave me these children.
They ARE gifts from above.
I will never be perfect, but
I will PROTECT them with love.
When people ask me, what do I do for a living? I tell them, “I am a Ninja Mom!”
When someone tries to insult declaring it’s all I will ever be. I smile at him and say, “That’s right. I AM a Ninja Mom!
I came about becoming a mom and a housewife wearily. My emotions were similar to one being picked up kicking, screaming and being dragged by the hair into the woods. It’s not that I didn’t want children. I did, one day. I willingly got married to the man of my dreams. But I had other goals in my life than Just being a wife and a mother. I had a world to conquer. When we found out my oldest daughter was on her way, we’d only been married a few months. We were living with my parents trying to figure out where on the planet we needed to move. We weren’t sure we had health insurance. Let’s just say she was not in our plans, but God’s. Choosing to stay at home was the furthest thing from my mind. I am not the next Betty Crocker or Suzy Homemaker. My cooking is edible, my cleaning laughable, and even the idea of sitting at a desk all day seemed claustrophobic to me.
When the decision was made for me to stay-at-home for the time being, I think I cried off and on for a good four years. It was for a whole list of decisions the choice was made. It wasn’t my choice, but it was the choice that was best for my family. I felt as if my hopes and my dreams were slipping through my fingers like sand in an hour glass. I struggled to find my footing. My family didn’t need me crying every day and living my life miserable. I needed to find myself in the midst of the circumstances that I never chose or I didn’t like. I needed to learn to see the good in a situation that wasn’t easy. I needed to find the affirmation in me to be okay with where I was in life despite the negative stigma I felt society put on me as a stay home mother. I needed to be okay with me.
In the years since I became a mom, something in me shifted. Don’t get me wrong, my cooking is still often just above edible and my cleaning and organization abilities are still laughable. I’ve branched out more professionally, and things for me have started to happen in other arenas.
I had a business partnership turn very sour some time ago. I don’t need to rehash all the details. However when the person realized his ways were being exposed he responded to me something that he meant as a personal attack. He said to me, “You’re just a housewife” and the inference was that was all I was ever going to be. I laughed at how that seemed to come full circle. For once in my years as being a wife, mother, and housewife, though the words that man said to me stung, I wasn’t ashamed of what he said. “Ok, I would rather be ‘just’ a housewife than ever compromise my integrity.” I realize that something had shifted. I realized how badly the world can view the role of a mother. I realized that I no longer shared that same world view. Not long after this confrontation a friend jokingly started calling me a Ninja, thus is why the Ninja Mom got started.
My family, my morals, my children had become more important to me than an idea of success that I might have one day held. I have learned that success isn’t just about money, or the image the world has tried to give the population. Success is doing and being what you were created to be. Sometimes life happens in seasons, and just because you may not be where you want to be in the moment, you could be exactly where you need to be. Success for me in this season of my life was building a legacy. I realize now that as hard as I fought this initially, God had given me a precious gift. I have become a Ninja Mom. I have learned to be a fierce protector and guardian for my family. I have learned to not shrink back at this title. I AM A NINJA MOM. That’s me. We all have the power and ability to be Ninja Mom’s too.
To all of you Ninja Mom’s out there; don’t let the world tell you there is something wrong with you. Being a ninja mom isn’t being just a stay-at-homer. It’s making choices that are best for your family. It’s being your family’s cheerleader, role model, executive, doctor, and pastor. Being a Ninja Mom declares you love your family, and you are able to raise those kids the way God intended them to be raised. Declaring you’re a Ninja Mom means you’re okay with the role God has given you, and you do it with excellence. So join me in my declaration: You are a Ninja mom, I am a Ninja Mom, and together we ARE a powerful force.

Steal Their Hearts – Pass it on

Steal Their Hearts

“Would you steal their hearts, as you call their name,in a broken world, trying to do the same.Would you let them see the majesty of who You are,oh, Lord, would you steal their hearts!” – From “Steal Their Hearts” by The Neverclaim

I love this song. I have made it my ringtone so when my children call me it plays and I begin to pray for them.

Steal Their Hearts – We all have someone we could pray for. This movement focuses mostly on the children. It encourage us all to set aside time to pray for the children in our lives. It may be your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or a friend child, or just a child you have met.

This ministry is a part of The Neverclaim, a worship band from Portland, Oregon. (We love this band, they have an awesome Ministry in Music – Check out their Website: Click Here ) They have provided tools and a platform to bring people together “For Such A Time As This.” Check out the Website: Click Here

I met a women the other day who was so excited to have a job who influence children. We talked about all types of children who just need someone who believes in them & need a little encouragement in live. Life is hard enough, but when you don’t have someone who believes in you it can be harder. Also, Junior high is hard enough when you have a good family and we need to be that influence to each child during these hard years. We all have an opportunity to inspire a young person to walk with God. There is so many things in life pulling our children’s hearts, we need to be a stronger pull than the what the world has to offer.

Praying for them is the best way we can help them. But don’t stop their, let your prayers become actions. A smile can go along way. An encouraging word can change a life. The women I was talking to told me about a story of a young girl that was in a foster home and how the people who she has known in the past would discourage her from doing anything because they didn’t believe she could accomplish anything. So she didn’t. What a sad story. People are influenced from a very young age for success or failure. We can overcome that through Christ, but unless He “Steals their Heart”, this will not be possible.

Other ways to help them is to give them a bible, a music CD, a Book, money, or anything the Lord puts in your hearts.

Let’s all come together with our prayers & resources to reach a generation for God.

“That they may know Your Love”

Show them your Love, open their eyes to the depths of it. Show them that you love them not as the world loves, but a kind of Love that can only come from a Holy God!

Reveal to them what that means to them. Show them why that means so much. Help them to be persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate them from your love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Your love is so deep that your Son dies so they could live and He is at your right hand interceding for them. Wow, open their understanding to this truth. You are the only one that will not leave them nor forsake them. Love them today and reveal that love to them.

Strengthen them in their inner man, Oh Lord. Dwell in my heart and theirs. Help them to comprehend what is the breadth, length, depth, and height of your love. Fill them with the fulness of you.

Show them that you are love. That your love is perfect and perfect love cast out fear and that you loved them 1st!

Give them a heart to know you!

God your love is so deep and unless you open their eyes and reveal it to them they will stay in darkness. Bring them out of darkness into your marvelous light. Your deep love!

Lord I know you see their heart and you can soften their heart to the truth. Penetrate the walls and soften their heart for you.

I pray for them because I love them, but my love is limited. Your love is limitless. Show them that you love them with an intense love.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

“That they may know You and Your love!”
